Why we built this
Voting should be easier to understand.
For nearly a decade, I’ve made a spreadsheet comparing election slates and endorsements and shared it with friends in San Francisco. It helped us see who supported what, where the guides agreed, and which decisions needed a closer look.
Between campaign ads, social media, competing claims and complicated ballot language, it can be hard to understand what a measure would do and what it would cost. Slate by Slate grew out of that spreadsheet: plain-English explanations, endorsements side by side, campaign funding where we have it, and links to the original sources.
It’s free, nonpartisan and open to everyone. Explore guides across the political spectrum, pick the ones you want to compare, and make up your own mind. A site shouldn’t decide your vote for you.
Who runs this
One person, as an independent passion project for public education. There’s no outside funding and no affiliation with any party, campaign or organization. No ads, donations or products for sale. Including a guide doesn’t mean I agree with it.
How this site was made / AI disclosure
I use AI tools to help gather, organize and summarize information from official voter guides and organizations’ published endorsements. As one person bringing together a lot of information, these tools help me cover more ground. They can also introduce mistakes. Read the linked original sources to check a claim, and if you spot an error, send a correction so I can review it.
